About Us

Who Are We?

Ratang-Bana, which means love Children in Tswana, is a non-profit organization founded by Ingrid Moloi in 2009. Ratang Bana addresses deep-seated issues that maim the Alexandra township, with a focus on supporting vulnerable children i.e., children living with HIV, child-headed households, children without food, households without food, and children displaced from their homes. The organization since its inception has reached over 10,000 children through various programs offered and has received numerous awards for community work and results achieved. As our main focus being Orphaned, Vulnerable Children (OVC) we are guided by the Children’s Act number 38 of 2005, which makes provision for the right of children to care, the dignity and worth of the child and other psychosocial need of the children. Ratang Bana gives people of Alexandra a chance to upward mobility by providing food in form of food parcels to needy families and children. The children’s act also acknowledges the involvement and responsibility of family in children’s lives and upbringing by advocating stance for family preservation, thus integrating family involvement were possible is pivotal to our success.
